This carefully selected mix contains a variety of dried leaves, pods, bark and cones suitable for shrimp, fish and other compatible freshwater inhabitants. Each botanical offers different shapes, textures and surfaces, helping create a more interesting and natural aquarium environment.

As the botanicals settle and begin to break down, they provide additional surfaces for biofilm and microorganisms to develop. Shrimp, fry and grazing fish can explore and feed across these surfaces, while the larger leaves, pods and bark pieces provide extra cover and sheltered areas.

Many of the botanicals may also gradually release natural tannins into the water. This can create a gentle tea-coloured appearance and help produce a natural blackwater-style environment. The amount of colour released will depend on the botanicals used, the quantity added and your aquarium’s water volume and filtration.

How to Use

Rinse the botanicals thoroughly with clean water before use. Add a small quantity to the aquarium and allow them to sink naturally. Some items may float initially and can be soaked or briefly boiled to help them sink more quickly.

Introduce botanicals gradually, particularly in smaller aquariums, as they may alter the colour and chemistry of the water. Remove and replace individual pieces once they have broken down to your preferred level.
