Get more from your LARGE Fluval Breeder Box with this purpose-designed BST3D Upgrade Kit.

Created for aquarium hobbyists and breeders who want improved performance from their breeder box, this comprehensive upgrade provides better water circulation, increased fry protection, reduced clogging and easier positioning and maintenance.

The precision-designed components work together to improve the standard Fluval breeder box while retaining its simple air-driven operation.

What’s Included Large Breeder Upgrade Kit

1 × High-Flow Drop-In Exit Grate Bracket – Custom Design L
Designed specifically for the LARGE Fluval Breeder Box, the upgraded exit bracket provides more than three times the surface area of the standard outlet. This allows increased water movement through the breeder box while helping to reduce restriction and clogging.

The bracket is also compatible with interchangeable BST3D grate inserts.

1 × Plastic Teeth Exit Grate – 1mm Slits
Features 27 precision-designed slits measuring approximately 1mm × 21mm, providing excellent water flow while helping to prevent fry from escaping through the outlet.

1 × 304 Stainless Steel 30-Mesh Exit Grate – 0.6mm Openings
For even greater fry protection, the kit includes a fine 304 stainless-steel mesh grate with approximately 0.6mm openings.

The corrosion-resistant stainless steel provides excellent durability while maintaining smooth and consistent water flow.

1 × Uplift Tube Intake & Custom Adapter
Designed to fit the standard Fluval uplift tube, the upgraded intake provides a larger intake surface area than the original components.

A secure airline connection helps provide reliable operation while the increased intake area can improve flow stability and reduce the likelihood of clogging.

1 × Black Prefilter Sponge
The custom-fit prefilter sponge fits over the upgraded intake and helps capture larger debris before it enters the breeder box.

This can help maintain more consistent water flow while increasing the time between cleaning and maintenance.

2 × Breeder Box Levellers & 2 × Stand-Off Feet (only one Leveller in the Medium Kit)
The included levelers help keep the breeder box correctly positioned, while the stand-off feet allow the box to sit slightly away from the aquarium glass if required.

This can provide easier access when adding or removing fry and make routine cleaning more convenient.

• LARGE / MEDIUM Fluval Breeder Box
• Aquarium air pump and fittings
• Adhesive

The BST3D levelers and stand-off feet are optional and do not need to be permanently attached if you prefer to continue using the original breeder box leveling system.

Installing the Levelers & Stand-Off Feet

If permanently fitting the levelers or stand-off feet, preparation of the bonding surfaces is recommended.

For the strongest bond:

1. Clean both surfaces thoroughly using isopropyl alcohol to remove dust, grease and fingerprints.
2. If required, lightly scuff the bonding surfaces using approximately 400–600 grit sandpaper to improve adhesion.
3. Apply a suitable CA/super glue designed for bonding 3D-printed materials and secure the components in position.

BST3D recommends KRAFTPROTZ 3D Printing Super Glue, although other suitable adhesives may also be used.

Care Instructions

To help keep the 3D-printed components in good condition:

• Rinse using room-temperature tap water
• Allow to air dry or gently towel dry
• Do not place in a dishwasher
• Avoid exposure to high temperatures
• Avoid prolonged direct sunlight

Temperatures above approximately 110°F / 43°C should be avoided.
